CallTower Skype Pool Migrations FAQ’s

CallTower Skype Pool Migrations FAQ’s

  1. Is this required?
    1. Yes, this migration is required for all customers. CallTower is dedicated to making our customer experience better for everyone.
  2. What is the benefit of this migration?
    1. The new Skype for Business pools will provide an optimized end user experience, including geographic-based connectivity providing lower latency, better redundancy and failover, and lower-density pools resulting in more resources for user activities.
    2. Dedicated Pools for customers who use CT Call Recording and Clarity Contact Center.
  3. What is the impact to my end users?
    1. New Skype Meeting Dial In numbers. (the previous numbers will continue to work and no need to update previously scheduled meetings)
    2. If end users are a member of a formal hunt group (requiring a sign in) then they will have to sign back into the hunt group, the next time they sign into Skype after the migration. (you will be notified if this applies to you)
    3. Skype contact list will be kept, voicemail greeting and pins, and passwords will be the same.
    4. If anyone is signed in during the time the changes are being made, they will notice the Skype for Business Desktop PC client will sign out and back in Automatically. If anyone is signed in on an Android, iPhone, or MAC, they will be signed out and have to enter their password back in to get signed in. We do recommend that the end user reboots their PC after the changes are made on the CallTower side, before starting work again.
  4. What changes are needed to complete the migration?
    1. DNS change for the CNAME record for sip internally and externally. (this will be provided to you the morning of the Migration)
    2. The changes on the CallTower side are completed after normal business hours. No one will need to be onsite at that time.
    3. If you need the IP ranges for your firewall from our Skype for Business platform, please see this link.
